Joobin Bekhrad (BBA, MSc, MS) is the founder and former editor of Reorient and the Canadian Desk Editor of ArtAsiaPacific. He has also contributed to a host of other notable publications, such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Financial Times, The Economist, The Telegraph, Forbes, CNN, the BBC, GQ, AnOther, Paper, Vanity Fair, The Times Literary Supplement, The London Magazine, The White Review, The LA Review of Books, Christie’s, and Frieze, been interviewed by ones like Newsweek (which referred to him as a ‘leading figure in the art world’ in 2016), PRI, Monocle, The Art Newspaper, and the CBC, and seen his articles republished in a wide variety of languages.

As well, throughout his adventures in journalism, he has interviewed Ronnie Wood, John Malkovich, Paul Smith, Christian Lacroix, Zandra Rhodes, Dries Van Noten, Thierry Mugler, Kenzo Takada, Isabel Marant, Agnès B., Johnny Marr, Salma Hayek, John Varvatos, Terry O’Neill, Anna Sui, Barbara Hulanicki, Katharine Hamnett, Chris Stein (Blondie), Glen Matlock, and Betsey Johnson, amongst many other luminaries.

In 2015, Joobin was granted an International Award for Art Criticism (IAAC) by London’s Royal College of Art. Other prestigious academic institutions, such as the Courtauld Institute and the University of Southern California, have also formally recognised him over the years.

His articles aside, Joobin is the author of a novella (Coming Down Again), a novel (Guguli), six volumes of poetry (Soft Wonders; The Sailor; Turncoats of Paradise; Down the Twilit Hill; Elsewhere; and Lovers of Light), a translation of Persian poetry (The Quatrains of Omar Khayyam), and a collection of stories (With My Head in the Clouds and Stars in My Eyes). His writings can also be found in books like Sarah Maple’s Not My Cup of Tea and UNCOMMON DUBAI +.
