Reorient (2012 – 2018) was a publication about the contemporary art and culture of Iran and the surrounding region.
Founded, edited, and co-managed by Joobin Bekhrad, and featuring the contributions of over a hundred writers around the world — including academicians, artists, curators, filmmakers, broadcasters, and editors of other notable publications — Reorient was instrumental in promoting the work of established and emerging artists as well as countering false narratives surrounding the cultures and peoples of the publication’s focus countries.
Covering visual art, film, literature, and music through long-form essays, interviews, and podcasts (on Reorient Radio, hosted by Bekhrad), Reorient was mentioned by such publications as The Guardian, Newsweek, The Art Newspaper, l’Officiel Hommes, and The Huffington Post, as well as organisations like Art Dubai and Christie’s, and was followed by nearly 100,000 individuals across its social media accounts.
In addition to its many contributors, Reorient was fortunate enough to receive the support of Abu Dhabi Art; the Aga Khan Museum; Art Dubai; ArtInternational Istanbul; the Beirut Art Fair; Cinéfranco; Contemporary Istanbul; Fondation Behnam Bakhtiar; and Magic of Persia, amongst other cultural institutions.
